Atlanta Becomes the Home of the Congolese Spirit!

Today is more than matchday.
As the DR Congo Leopards take the field against Uzbekistan in Atlanta, something extraordinary is happening far beyond the ninety minutes. Thousands of Congolese supporters have answered the call, traveling from every corner of the United States and Canada to stand behind their national team.
Some drove for hours. Others crossed state and provincial borders. Many booked flights months ago. Families, friends, churches, community organizations and football supporters have all made the same journey for one reason: to wear the colors of the Democratic Republic of the Congo with pride.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 has been built around a message of unity. Through FIFA's broader vision of Football Unites the World celebrates the ability of the game to bring people together across cultures and borders.
For the Congolese community, that message carries an even deeper meaning.
We are one of the world's largest diasporas. We come from different provinces, speak different languages, and have built new lives across North America. Yet today, in Atlanta, those differences fade behind one flag.
Today, we are not from Kinshasa, Lubumbashi, Goma, Kisangani, Mbuji-Mayi, Kananga or Bukavu.
Today, we are simply Congolese.

Football cannot solve every challenge our community faces. But it can remind us that we are stronger when we stand together than when we stand apart.
May this World Cup become more than a sporting milestone.
May it inspire new friendships.
May it reconnect families.
May it strengthen our diaspora.
May it encourage our youth to dream bigger.
And may it remind every Congolese child watching from home or abroad that no matter where life takes us, our roots remain connected.
As the Leopards step onto the field, they carry more than eleven players' hopes.
They carry the hopes of millions.
Today, Atlanta is not just hosting a football match.
For one unforgettable evening, Atlanta is home to the heart of the Congolese nation.
Together in our passion. Together in our pride. Together for DR Congo.
Allez les Léopards! Tokozala elongo. Always!
